Trendy Christianity

I've noticed a trend amongst certain Christians.  I don't think it's a new trend though because you read about others who followed this "trend", even in the Bible.  In fact, I think it's the oldest trend on earth.

When that sly serpent tickled Eve's ear with his split tongue, he whispered this trend into our world's existence; Hissed out~interpret God's word the way you want it to be....

And we are still listening to him, the evil one.  We, the nation called The United States of America, are counted as the most religious, Christian nation in the world.  Yet, according to a recent Barna study, the the majority of Christians in the "most Christian nation in the world", don't believe God's word is truth. They believe that truth is relative to the person.  That's his lies. We reinterpret truth in order to fit our ideas of what we want "truth" to be.

We hear the evil one speaking on TV.  Only he's dressed in a suit and tie, or sometimes just regular clothes. And he presumes to speak for God, interpreting His "truth" as, "Give to me and God will bless you financially to overflowing!". Or sometimes the evil one speaks other "interpretations" of God's Holy Words, saying "You don't have change...come as you...stay as you are....just come to church, be 'blessed'...and leave feeling happy about yourself".  Is this really what God's word teaches?  Or is this some more trendy Christianity...reinterpretations of His Holiness?

We must live by the Word alone, The Bread of God (Matt 4:4).  We must know how to fight his lies (Eph 6 is a good starting place clue). We must know His words so we can fight his, the evil ones, lies.  We must reject trendy Christianity, and watch, pray and live on His words, for these Words bring life.  The evil ones words always lead to death.

This made me think of the way they train people to recognize counterfeit money--they handle the real thing a lot. When we saturate our minds with His Words it fills us with wisdom and the ability to discern Truth from the lies.

I agree, we must constantly be changing to be more like Christ...if we are comfortable in churchor our walk then we are not seeking to be more like the One who saved us....when was He ever comfortable???

Thanks for the reminder!
